Update Active Roles ver. 7.0

Hi everyone,
Do you think there are problems updating the Active Roles 7.0 version directly to the Active Roles 8.1.1 version?
Thank you

  • Hi

A direct upgrade from Active Roles 7.0 to 8.1.1 is supported (Active Roles 8.1.1 - Quick Start Guide (oneidentity.com))

    Upgrade of an earlier version
You can upgrade from Active Roles 7.0.x or later to Active Roles 7.x using one of the following methods:

In-place upgrade: Install the latest version of Active Roles on the computer without removing the earlier version.
New installation with import of database from earlier version: Install the latest version of Active Roles and import the database from the earlier version of Active Roles.

Please note, In Active Roles 7.3.x or lower, it was not mandatory to have a separate configuration and management history database (but you may have chosen to have separate databases), from 7.4 onwards it is mandatory.

Please review the upgrade instruction (link above) in the Quick start quide, as depending on your current configuration (Standalone vs Publisher and Subscriber), there may be other steps involved in the upgrade.

It is also worth checking post upgrade that Scheduled Tasks, Dynamic Groups, Group Families and any pending temporal membership changes have the correct executing/originating Administration Service set.

    • Scheduled Tasks - edsaServerToExecute
    • DynamicGroups - edsaDGOriginatingService
    • Group Families - edsvaGFServerNameToExecute
    • Temporal Membership - This information can be obtained by using the get-QARSOperation command, looking at OperationType GroupMembershipChange, and OperationStatus Pending.

    Kind regards
