DialogGroup table GroupNumber column doesn't get updated while description gets updated

Today we came across a strange issue

We made changes to GroupNumber and Description column of DialogGroup table using Objectbrowser.

when we save the changes only description gets saved and not the group Number. And we didn't get any exception

There are no process associated with DialogGroup. Any thoughts why it is behaving this way?

You shouldn't mess with the GroupNumber, why do you want to do that?

Our requirement is to track the changes related column. Group number field is enabled so tried to test with changing the group number field

The system auto-calculates the group number so there is no need to track that. As you have figured, the system corrected your changed number.
