Password Reset Portal: login via e-mail address

Following these instructions, we tried to set up the login to the password reset portal via email address instead of via central user account. It works in the old portal (via Web Designer) but not in the new Angular portal.
In the frontend the error message says that the username is incorrect and there is no error message in the log.
We had already tested it in OIM version 9.1 and now also in 9.2 and also with both the Person table and the ADSAccount table.

Does anyone have experience with this setting or an idea that we haven't considered? Or could it be that this setting is not supported in the new web portal?
