Standards when posting a question

Hopefully there's room for this to be 'stickied'.

When you're posting a question (or opening a discussion here) great! That's what we want to do as a community, help each other and improve our IAM implementations everywhere. Very few companies seek to compete on their IAM implementations, instead we all want the best implementations to keep our organizations secure.

When you post a question though please keep these things in mind, both to help yourself get assistance more quickly as well as saving the community time;

  • When you're asking a question please mention the version of One Identity you're using in as much detail as possible (Example 9.0 LTS or 9.1.3)
    • This helps us as a community know what options you have available in your tool as well as to find existing issues
  • When asking a question about how to approach / tackle something be as complete as possible about what you want to achieve. Ideally including your (functional) end goal. This helps us as fellow experts both to answer your question as well as advise on alternatives and best practices to tackle your problem.
    • Sometimes there are great options or design patterns available for a functional problem you might not be aware off. Explaining why you want to do something helps.
  • Put a little effort into your question, share what information you can on error messages, configuration, etc.
    • The more information you share the easier it is for people to help you

It's 3 simple bullets, but hopefully if we always follow these we can help each other more quickly.

If people feel things should be 'added' here (or disagree with some of the above points) it's a discussion post for a reason :).
